History
St. John Lutheran School began as a small mission school in 1946, serving 13 children who attended classes in parishioners’ homes. The mission was led by Rev. Karl Rabe and the first principal was Mrs. Clara Gebhardt. In 1951, the congregation decided to build a school building on the church property and St. John Lutheran School opened its doors in 1952. In 1973, a major expansion project was completed to accommodate the growing student population and expanded curriculum offerings.
In the years that followed, St. John continued to grow and add new classrooms and facilities, including a gymnasium, computer lab, media center, art room and music rooms. The school has also added numerous extracurricular activities, including sports teams and clubs.
St. John Lutheran School has had a long tradition of academic excellence and was accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools in 1989. In 1998, St. John earned the highest honor possible from AdvancED/Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). They achieved this accreditation by meeting the highest standards of quality, integrity and excellence in education.
